Charlie Morton, who spent the last four seasons with the Atlanta Braves and played a pivotal role in their 2021 World Series run, has signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles.
Now 41 years old, Morton joins a Baltimore team expected to remain highly competitive, earning $15 million as reported by multiple sources.
During his time with Atlanta, Morton made 124 starts, posting a solid 3.87 ERA, 3.92 FIP, and 3.77 xFIP. His standout season came in 2021, where he recorded a 4.5 WAR across 33 starts.
One of Morton’s most memorable moments occurred during the 2021 World Series when he remarkably pitched on a broken leg before being forced to leave the game. The Braves won that game 6-2 and eventually claimed their first championship in 25 years.
While there was speculation about a potential reunion with the Braves for 2025, recent reports indicate the team may explore other options for their rotation. It remains unclear what direction GM Alex Anthopoulos and the Braves front office will take.
