Boise State defensive tackle depart to University of Miami following his entry into the NCAA transfer portal.
The 6’1″, 297-pound lineman had an impressive 2024 campaign, starting all 14 games for the Broncos and finishing with 24 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. His dominant play earned him second-team All-Mountain West honors, and he was named to Phil Steele’s All-Mountain West First Team. Over the course of his college career, Fely has logged 1,202 defensive snaps and has one year of eligibility remaining.
As a freshman, Fely played in all 14 games, contributing on defense and special teams. He became a full-time starter in his sophomore year, notching 15 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and forcing 3 fumbles. In 2023, he led all interior linemen in the Mountain West with 30 quarterback pressures. Coming out of high school, he was rated a three-star recruit.
Fely was originally set to visit Miami earlier in the week but chose to head to Cal first. Now, he’s expected to make the trip to Coral Gables early next week. With head coach Mario Cristobal’s strong reputation for developing linemen, Miami remains a compelling destination.
Miami is actively seeking help on the defensive line due to recent portal departures. Redshirt sophomore Joshua Horton, who played in eight games over two seasons, has entered the portal and is visiting Georgia. Redshirt freshman Elias Rudolph, who appeared in two games in 2024, has also left the program.
With limited depth following spring practices, Miami’s defensive tackle rotation currently includes Ahmad Moten, Justin Scott, and David Blay as the top three. Fely could factor into the rotation behind them or potentially leapfrog into a larger role, competing for snaps with Donta Simpson and Artavius Jones.
