The dynamic nature of roster building this time of year was evident for the Buffaloes football program on Sunday.
Carter Miller, an offensive lineman from Louisiana Monroe, changed his transfer commitment from Colorado to Mississippi State, following assistant coach Phil Loadholt to Starkville. However, Colorado also secured a new transfer commitment from former Louisiana Tech offensive lineman Zarian McGill, who is visiting Boulder this weekend.
Pro Football Focus suggests that Colorado is upgrading its roster, at least based on expected 2024 performance. Miller recorded a grade of 58.5 over 714 offensive snaps, while McGill earned a 69.9 over 429 offensive snaps. Both players played center this past season.
McGill, a second-team all-Sun Belt selection as a fourth-year junior at Louisiana Tech, is 6-foot-2 and 308 pounds. He played over 1,500 offensive snaps at Louisiana-Monroe. Originally from Taylorsville, Mississippi, McGill started his college career at Jones College in the junior college ranks and has one year of eligibility remaining.
In addition to McGill, Colorado has gained 12 other transfers recently: quarterback Kaidon Salter, receiver Joseph Williams, tight end Zach Atkins, offensive lineman Aki Ogunbiyi, defensive linemen Gavriel Lightfoot and Jehiem Oatis, linebackers Kylan Salter and Reginald Hughes, cornerback Makari Vickers, safety Tawfiq Byard, kicker Buck Buchanan, and punter Damon Greaves.
