On Friday, March 14, the Chargers announced Becton’s signing on social media, posting, “Big ticket to L.A.” on their official X account.

Becton entered the NFL as the 11th overall pick in the 2020 draft, joining the New York Jets as an offensive tackle. After four seasons, the Jets declined his fifth-year option, leading him to sign a one-year deal with the Eagles in 2023. Philadelphia transitioned him to right guard in 2024, where he thrived as part of one of the league’s top offensive lines.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Becton’s tenure with the Jets was largely disappointing due to injuries. He noted that Becton quickly adapted to his new role in Philadelphia before securing a contract with the Chargers. The deal is reportedly for two years, though additional terms have not been disclosed. Spotrac estimated his market value at nearly $41 million over a potential four-year contract, averaging around $10.2 million per season.
