Just like that, Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding keeps his perfect record when it comes to shark tweets. Golding, known for posting a shark emoji on Twitter just before the Rebels land a major defensive commitment, dropped one over the weekend. Rebel fans waited anxiously.
Their patience paid off on Friday.
Five-star linebacker flipped his commitment from the Florida Gators to Ole Miss. Williams, a top-tier prospect, is ranked as the No. 3 linebacker in the nation, No. 6 overall player in Florida’s 2026 class, and No. 51 nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. In 247Sports’ in-house rankings, he sits at No. 10 among linebackers, No. 20 in Florida, and No. 159 overall in the Top247.
Williams had just visited Ole Miss officially the previous weekend.
He still has other official visits scheduled, though it’s unclear whether he’ll follow through with them. The upcoming trips are to Penn State (May 17), Georgia (May 30), Alabama (June 6), Florida (June 13), Colorado (June 17), and Florida State (June 20).
Scouting Report
Williams is a dynamic linebacker with the kind of athleticism that could make waves at the NFL Combine someday, though he’s still tapping into his full potential. He boasts elite speed and explosiveness for a player nearing 215 pounds, along with a standout track and field background. He closes space quickly and hits with authority. His sideline-to-sideline speed is rare, and he’s getting better in pass coverage. He shows versatility, occasionally flashing edge-rushing ability, and is a solid open-field tackler—though improving his positioning and ability to shed blocks would help his game. Williams can thrive in multiple defensive schemes, depending on how his body develops. While he’s been a dominant player in a smaller setting, he proved he belonged among elite talent at the Under Armour All-America Game. Overall, he projects as a high-motor, second-level defender with true three-down potential and the upside to become an all-conference player.
