The Chicago Bulls could be one of the most active teams leading up to the NBA trade deadline, with both Nikola Vucevic and Zach LaVine reportedly available for trade. The Golden State Warriors have been linked to them, but it’s uncertain how things will unfold. Meanwhile, could Chicago be looking to make a move for one of the league’s most underrated point guards?
According to Shams Charania, the Sacramento Kings are expected to engage in trade discussions involving All-Star De’Aaron Fox before the February 6 deadline. Several teams, including the San Antonio Spurs, have shown interest, but the Bulls may be in a position to offer a strong trade package. Over the past few years, Chicago has consistently moved key players like Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan, and they have been listening to offers for both LaVine and Vucevic. While no trades have been finalized yet, that could change in the coming days.
Chicago possesses valuable assets to pursue Fox, including five tradable first- and second-round picks, as well as lower-salary players who could help match his contract. Austin McGee of Pippen Ain’t Easy notes that while San Antonio is a logical destination, the team that presents the best offer will ultimately land Fox. He points out that while the Bulls may not have an abundance of highly coveted assets, they are still capable of outbidding many competitors.
With LaVine, Vucevic, and Lonzo Ball among their highest-paid players, Chicago has the flexibility to make a deal. Fox’s skill set aligns well with the Bulls’ fast-paced playing style, making him an ideal fit for their transition-heavy offense. McGee adds that acquiring Fox would significantly impact the team, giving them the boost they need to secure a playoff spot without undergoing a full-scale rebuild—something Chicago’s front office has been reluctant to pursue.
Bringing Fox to Chicago would provide a much-needed shift in both talent and offensive direction. The move would signal progress for a team that has remained in mediocrity for too long without fully committing to a rebuild.
