During the latest episode of his show last Thursday, Pat McAfee suggested that former Wisconsin Badgers running back Jonathan Taylor should be traded from the Indianapolis Colts. McAfee shared his thoughts on how the team should undergo a complete overhaul, including a fiery rant about moving several players, including Taylor, for the good of the team.
“I wish we could transfer portal the whole f***ing team,” McAfee said. “We need about 70 guys to hit the portal, but I guess we can’t do that in the NFL. If I ever wanted to pitch myself as president of the Colts, I’d lay out a plan to get rid of this entire roster.”
He continued, saying of Taylor: “Trade him out of town. A second-round pick? Great. A first would be better. We’ll do it for the good of the program. Anthony Richardson? Get him out, too. Fourth-rounder or whatever. That’s what I’d do. We need a full reset.”
McAfee did mention a few exceptions, including Michael Pittman, Kenny Moore, Alec Pierce, Quinton Nelson, and DeForest Buckner, as players he would keep.
From a fan’s perspective, it’s easy to see where McAfee is coming from, as the Colts are out of playoff contention with a 7-9 record, though Jonathan Taylor remains a bright spot for the team. The former NFL rushing leader is heading back to the Pro Bowl, having accumulated 1,254 yards and 10 touchdowns on 269 carries in 13 games, despite missing three games due to an ankle injury. Taylor acknowledged that his Pro Bowl selection was bittersweet, given his team’s playoff elimination.
