BREAKING NEWS: NC State LB 5-star enter transfer portal, after sending a shocking message to NC State Wolfpack Football. So much so he announced his commitment to the Wolfpack a week later.

According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, NC State starting linebacker Kamal Bonner intends to enter the transfer portal.

Bonner began the 2024 season as a backup, but was elevated to the starting lineup after Caden Fordham suffered a season-ending injury. He quickly became one of NC State’s top defensive contributors.

A Georgia native, Bonner started seven games last season, racking up 56 tackles, including seven tackles for loss, one sack, and six quarterback hurries. In his first career start against Syracuse, he led the team with nine tackles, and later matched a team-high with eight stops in a road win over California.

Bonner was part of NC State’s 2023 recruiting class. He originally committed to Georgia Tech, but decommitted in October 2022—just a week after receiving an offer from the Wolfpack. After reopening his recruitment, NC State emerged as a strong contender. A December official visit sealed the deal, and he committed to the Pack shortly afterward.
