The transfer portal has undoubtedly become a popular method for programs to acquire top-tier talent, but many schools continue to invest significant time and resources into securing commitments from high school recruits.
One program that has remained particularly active in recent years is Nebraska, led by head coach Matt Rhule. In 2024, the Cornhuskers landed five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, who went on to start all 13 games as a freshman.
Now, Nebraska has added another key piece in the 2027 recruiting cycle with the commitment of quarterback Taylor, a highly coveted prospect. According to the 247Sports Composite, Taylor is rated as a four-star recruit, the No. 3 quarterback in the class, and the No. 35 overall player in the country.
Taylor’s commitment was highly contested, as several powerhouse programs—including Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Ohio State, Michigan, and Tennessee—were also vying for him.
During his sophomore season, Taylor completed 191 of 282 passes for 3,061 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also added 342 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
With Taylor on board, Nebraska joins Penn State, Ohio State, Minnesota, Michigan State, UCLA, and Rutgers as the only Big Ten programs with a 2027 commit.
Notably, Dylan Raiola will be eligible for the 2027 NFL Draft, potentially giving Taylor a chance to compete for playing time early in his college career.
