According to Jackson, the New Orleans Saints should seriously consider bringing in veteran offensive lineman and former LSU standout La’el Collins.
Jackson outlines three key conditions for a potential signing:
- The Saints must show genuine interest.
- Collins would need to agree to a one-year veteran minimum contract.
- He must be fully recovered from his recent injuries.
Jackson notes that Collins, now 31, is reportedly healthy—making him a compelling option for the Saints as training camp approaches.
“The Saints should at least bring him in for camp,” Jackson suggested, adding that Collins could serve as a veteran presence on the practice squad or add depth to the active roster.
Even if Collins doesn’t make the final roster right away, evaluating him in July or August could prove valuable later in the season if injuries hit the offensive line. Having firsthand insight into his condition could be a crucial advantage should the Saints need reinforcements in October, November, or December.
Collins started his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys (2015–2021) before a stint with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022. While injuries have sidelined him since then, if the health reports are accurate, he could still be a productive addition in New Orleans—or elsewhere.
Although Collins may be worth more than a short-term deal, his injury history means he’ll need to prove himself before landing a more stable contract. For the Saints, taking a low-risk chance on Collins could be a smart move with potential upside.
