A highly regarded and adaptable talent, 21-year-old Brodie arrives with substantial international experience, having earned 17 caps for Northern Ireland.
Despite his young age, he has already made close to 100 senior appearances across the Championship, League One, and Scottish Premiership. Brodie made his professional debut for Huddersfield in November 2022 and has since built an impressive résumé.
Originally from Belfast, he joined Huddersfield from Cliftonville in 2020, going on to make 62 appearances for the club, along with 18 appearances during a loan spell at Motherwell.
After signing for Oxford United, the defender shared his excitement about returning to the Championship.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Oxford United. From the outside, the Club has shown great progress over the years, and I’ve only ever heard positive things,” he said.
“As soon as I learned of their interest, I was keen for the move to happen. After speaking with people at the Club, it felt like the right decision.
“I’ve had a taste of Championship football and I’m eager to prove myself at this level. There was interest from other clubs, but I’m confident Oxford is the right fit for my development and ambitions.
“I’m looking forward to linking up with the squad once they return from Indonesia and showing the fans what I’m capable of.”
Head Coach Gary Rowett expressed his enthusiasm: “Brodie is a fantastic addition. He brings a lot of experience for his age and has already shown he can handle this level of competition.
“We’re targeting players who can contribute immediately, and Brodie fits that profile. His ability to play across the backline, especially as a full-back, adds depth and flexibility to the team.”
Ed Waldron, Head of Football Operations, added: “Brodie is a high-potential player who can make an impact now and continue to grow with us.
“This signing is another indication of our progress. With several Championship clubs interested, securing Brodie is a great sign of what we’re building here.
“His qualities and versatility make him an ideal addition, and his experience at both club and international level will be invaluable.”
