Omari Evans, who played receiver for Penn State and recorded 21 receptions for 415 yards last season, is moving to Washington. On Wednesday, Evans informed On3’s Hayes Fawcett about his decision.
Washington’s roster now includes Evans, who has one season of eligibility left. Last season, he was Penn State’s No. 2 receiver behind Trey Wallace (who is transferring to Ole Miss) and started six games. With five touchdown receptions, Evans led the team with an average of 19.8 yards per catch. During the Nittany Lions’ Fiesta Bowl victory against Boise State, Evans recorded two crucial receptions: one was a 38-yard touchdown catch, and the other was a leaping 17-yard grab that he secured with just his fingertips.
Against Kent State, Evans delivered his finest performance of the season, with four receptions totaling 116 yards, one of which was a touchdown on a 59-yard pass. As the season was drawing to a close, Franklin commended Evans for the progress he had made as a receiver over the last three years with the Nittany Lions.

The frightening thing is that I doubt Omari is near to his potential position. As we keep playing this year, I believe he will just continue to improve. I have the same feelings about Trey, the line of scrimmage, and the other wide receivers in that room. That’s thrilling, isn’t it?
Among the seven former Nittany Lions and three receivers who entered the transfer portal is Evans. Tyler Johnson, along with Evans and Wallace, is transferring to East Carolina as a receiver. In addition to other transfers, cornerback Cam Miller is going to Rutgers, tight end Jerry Cross will compete at Memphis, and quarterback Beau Pribula is relocating to Missouri.
Penn State has brought in six players from the transfer portal, among them receivers Kyron Hudson (USC) and Devonte Ross (Troy).
