BREAKING NEWS: Sunderland Enters Race to Sign Premier league veteran to Add Experience to Squad

Fans on BBC Radio Newcastle’s Total Sport forum have been weighing in on the idea of Jordan Henderson making a sentimental return to Sunderland.

Henderson, who began his professional career with the Black Cats from 2008 to 2011 before joining Liverpool and winning both the Premier League and Champions League, is currently a free agent after parting ways with Ajax.

At 35, he would be Sunderland’s first summer signing with English top-flight experience. Despite his age, some supporters are open to the idea.

One Sunderland fan on the show initially voiced opposition to signing older, experienced Premier League players but admitted he’d make an exception for Henderson:
“I’m not a huge fan of Jordan Henderson and I’m surprised he’s still in the England squad. But if he’s still getting called up, he must have something to offer. I think he could bring something valuable to Sunderland.”

A Newcastle supporter added:
“Jordan has previously said he’d like to end his career at Sunderland. If they offer him the right deal and he’s committed, it could work out well for everyone—similar to what Dan Burn has brought to Newcastle. It would be great to see him return.”
