Following a disappointing 2024–25 season, Rangers GM Chris Drury is expected to make bold moves to continue reshaping the roster, potentially targeting both forwards and defensemen to boost the team’s competitiveness.
Among the potential additions is 28-year-old center Sam Bennett, who is poised to become one of the more sought-after names on the open market. While the Rangers have been linked to Bennett, a recent update from NHL insider David Pagnotta suggests they may face an uphill battle — Pagnotta reports that Bennett’s preferred destination is to remain with the Panthers.
Despite this, the NHL offseason is unpredictable, and plenty of teams are expected to pursue Bennett aggressively. If the Rangers hope to bring him to New York, they’ll need to move quickly and offer a compelling pitch.
