Athlon Sports recently released its way-too-early All-America team, and once again, Notre Dame football was well represented. Despite losing key veterans like Riley Leonard, Xavier Watts, and Howard Cross, the Fighting Irish still boast plenty of talent, as reflected in the latest selections.
Running back Jeremiyah Love was the top Notre Dame player featured, earning a spot after an impressive sophomore season in which he rushed for 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 6.9 yards per carry. He also made history as the first Irish running back to score a rushing touchdown in every regular-season game, while adding 28 receptions for 237 yards and two touchdowns.
Cornerback Leonard Moore earned a first-team selection following an outstanding freshman campaign. Though he didn’t make his first start until the fifth game and didn’t take over as the full-time boundary corner until game seven, Moore still managed to record 48 tackles, 11 pass breakups, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and two tackles for loss.
Senior guard Billy Schrauth was named to the second-team offensive line. His 2024 season was interrupted by a knee injury that sidelined him for four games, but he still provided strong play at guard when healthy and is expected to take another step forward in 2025.
As Notre Dame prepares for the 2025 season, it’s clear the team remains loaded with talent, and more people are taking notice.
