EUGENE – The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team has lost another player to the transfer portal. Guard Jadrian Tracey reportedly entered the portal on Tuesday, April 2, according to 247 Sports. His departure follows that of guard Mookie Cook, who entered the portal just a week earlier.
With Tracey’s exit, Oregon is now down to seven scholarship players for the 2025-26 season, with the statuses of forward Kwame Evans Jr. and guard Jackson Shelstad still uncertain.
Tracey had recently been granted an extra year of eligibility and was expected to return for a final season. In fact, less than two weeks ago, he stated his intention to remain with the program.
“I love it here,” Tracey said before the NCAA Tournament’s first round. “So that’s definitely my plan. Pretty easy decision when you like the guys around you.”
Despite those remarks, he entered the transfer portal on Wednesday without making a formal announcement. His sudden decision surprised some, leading to speculation that he may not have left entirely by choice—similar to former Duck guard Brennan Rigsby, who was rumored to have been pushed out. However, there is little concrete evidence to support that theory.
Following Oregon’s season-ending loss to Arizona in the NCAA Tournament’s second round, head coach Dana Altman expressed his hope that returning players would stay.
“I hope and pray that the guys wanna stay because I want them to stay,” Altman said. “Everybody that can come back, I want them to come back, but they gotta be wanting.”
Tracey played a key role for the Ducks this season, primarily serving as the team’s sixth man. He started 16 games during the 2024-25 campaign and provided steady contributions on both ends of the court, averaging 6.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists across 35 games. Over his two seasons at Oregon, he appeared in 70 games, making 38 starts while averaging 7.3 points and 3.2 rebounds.
Tracey is the second player to leave the program this offseason, following Cook’s decision to enter the portal less than 24 hours after it opened. Meanwhile, Evans and Shelstad have yet to announce their plans for next season.
Center Nate Bittle also faces an uncertain future—he declared for the NBA Draft on Monday but retains the option to return for a final college season.
With key departures and lingering uncertainty surrounding several players, Altman and his staff must now look to the transfer portal to fill roster gaps. Oregon has already secured a commitment from former Texas forward Devon Pryor and recently hosted WCC Freshman of the Year Austin Rapp on campus.
As the Ducks navigate a pivotal offseason, recruiting from the portal will be crucial in reshaping the roster for the upcoming season.
