BREAKING: Phillies blockbuster 3-player from Angels $426 million 9-time Silver Slugger

Mike Trout, one of the most talented players of his generation, has spent his career with the Los Angeles Angels, a team that has struggled to find success despite having both Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Jordan Llanes of Clutch Points recently proposed a surprise trade scenario that would send Trout to Philadelphia:

“This trade would be a win for both sides,” Llanes wrote. “Crawford, a rising prospect since being drafted in the first round, and Abel, a pitcher ready to contribute at the major league level, would give the Angels valuable building blocks. Adding another arm like Cabrera or Johnson would only enhance the deal. Meanwhile, the Phillies would secure another star player who could make an immediate impact.”

Trout, a future Hall of Famer and 12-time All-Star, signed a 12-year, $426 million contract extension in 2019. While his recent seasons have been marred by injuries, Trout remains one of the best players in the game. With the Angels appearing far from contention, they could opt to give their franchise icon a shot at competing for a title elsewhere.

For the Phillies, the move would address a significant need. Last season, their center fielders ranked 20th in the league with a .610 OPS. Acquiring Trout would instantly upgrade the position with a three-time AL MVP, nine-time Silver Slugger, and proven elite talent. While parting with their No. 3 and No. 4 prospects—Crawford and Abel—would be a steep price, the potential to land Trout could be worth the gamble.

Although a trade for Trout is unlikely, there’s no doubt that joining the Phillies would give him a legitimate chance to add a World Series ring to his already illustrious resume.
