CHICAGO (AP) — Infielder Josh Rojas has the potential to earn up to $1 million in performance bonuses in addition to his $3.5 million salary with the Chicago White Sox.
As outlined in the deal announced on Jan. 8, Rojas can receive $500,000 based on games played: $100,000 for reaching 90 games and for every additional 10 games up to 130. He is also eligible for $500,000 tied to plate appearances: $100,000 for reaching 300 plate appearances and for every additional 50 up to 500. Additionally, Rojas will earn a $150,000 assignment bonus for each time he is traded.
Last season, Rojas batted .225 with eight home runs, 31 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases over 143 games with Seattle. He became a free agent in November after Seattle declined to tender him a contract for 2025. The 30-year-old holds a career .247 batting average with 34 home runs and 189 RBIs across six seasons with Arizona (2019-23) and Seattle (2023-24).
Rojas could also earn $100,000 for winning MVP, $90,000 for finishing second in voting, $80,000 for third, $70,000 for fourth, and $60,000 for fifth. Other bonuses include $100,000 for World Series MVP, $75,000 for League Championship Series MVP, $50,000 for a Gold Glove or selection to The Sporting News All-Star team, $25,000 for being elected to the All-Star team, and $15,000 for being selected.
