Class of 2026 USC commit made a strong impression on Day 1 of the Overtime OT7 Finals on Friday. One of the standout moments of the day came when Williams connected with 2026 wide receiver Lucas Andresen for a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone.
Background on Jonas Williams
Williams, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound quarterback from Frankfort, Illinois, is a four-star recruit and ranks as the No. 9 quarterback in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He was evaluated by Andrew Ivins, director of scouting, in May 2025.
“Williams is a quick-trigger passer with pinpoint accuracy and the mobility to challenge defenses,” Ivins said. “He’s efficient with his mechanics, delivers on time, and uses his footwork to drive the ball. His quick shoulders help him manipulate defenders in the RPO game and disguise play fakes as he moves through his reads.”
Originally committed to Oregon in August 2024, Williams reopened his recruitment in February 2025. He later committed to USC and recently completed his official visit to the school. After committing, he spoke to On3 about his decision.
“If I was going to flip, it was always likely to be USC,” Williams explained. “My family and I loved it there, and Coach Lincoln Riley’s track record with quarterbacks was a big part of the decision. I think he’s the best coach to prepare me for the next level.”
USC’s 2026 Recruiting Class
Williams is one of 30 players committed to USC in the 2026 cycle, giving the Trojans the No. 1-ranked class in the country. Despite the depth, Williams remains the only quarterback in the class currently committed to USC. The Trojans were once in contention for five-star QB Ryder Lyons, who chose BYU earlier this week.
Quarterback Outlook for USC in 2025
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, USC plans to start Jayden Maiava at quarterback. Maiava led the team to a 3-1 record over the final four games of the 2024 season. Also on the roster is freshman Husan Longstreet, a five-star QB from the 2025 class who signed with USC on National Signing Day.
Head coach Lincoln Riley has developed top-tier quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Caleb Williams. Now, all eyes will be on whether Jonas Williams becomes his next success story.
