DEAL DONE: Florida defensive lineman 5-star commit Minnesota Football just now

Spruce Creek High School (Fla.) has been a productive pipeline for PJ Fleck and the Golden Gophers in recent years, with current starting linebacker Maverick Baranowski making an impact in Minnesota this fall. Now, the Gophers are looking to add another Hawk to their roster, as 2026 defensive tackle Freddie Wilson visited campus for the first time last weekend. Wilson, who received offers last fall from programs like Miami (Fla.) and LSU, is also being pursued by Minnesota.

Speaking with 247Sports, Wilson shared his thoughts.

“I attended a hockey game, toured the facilities, and built a great bond with the players and coaches,” Wilson said. “On Sunday, we had a great breakfast, explored more of the campus, and then caught a flight home. Seeing their campus was mind-blowing, and experiencing snow for the first time was amazing. The hockey game was really entertaining as well. The atmosphere was completely different from anything I’ve experienced before.”
