The Washington Capitals re-signed forward Anthony Beauvillier to a two-year contract extension worth \$5.5 million on Thursday.
Beauvillier was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 7 in exchange for a second-round draft pick. Washington marked his sixth NHL team in just three seasons. After starting his career with the New York Islanders, where he spent the majority of his time, he had brief stops with the Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, and Penguins.
In 18 regular-season games with the Capitals, Beauvillier recorded two goals and three assists. He added two goals and four assists over 10 playoff games. The 28-year-old has totaled 271 points (131 goals, 140 assists) and 682 hits in 631 career games. He was originally drafted 28th overall by the Islanders in the first round of the 2015 NHL Draft.
