Speculation swirled online, with unconfirmed reports claiming that Guehi was finally on his way to St James’ Park for a medical, sparking excitement among Magpies supporters. That excitement reached fever pitch when fans tracked a private jet flying from London to Newcastle International Airport, fueling hopes of a major signing.
However, the buzz was short-lived. The jet wasn’t carrying Guehi — it was transporting Simon Adingra, who is set to join Sunderland from Brighton in a £20.5 million deal.
Sky Sports’ Keith Downie quickly cleared up the confusion, posting on X (formerly Twitter): “That’s Simon Adingra. Don’t believe the rumours.”
The clarification deflated Newcastle fans, with one humorously responding, “Cheers Keith, Wednesday’s ruined. Kids crying now, thanks.” Another simply wrote, “Erm, nope.”
