The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly open to trade offers for All-Star third baseman. While these discussions began before the Phillies acquired Jesús Luzardo, there’s still a chance Bohm could be dealt, potentially for an outfielder like Luis Robert Jr. If Bohm is moved, the Phillies would need a replacement at third base, and a perfect option could be in St. Louis.
The St. Louis Cardinals are reportedly eager to trade Nolan Arenado, and the Phillies are among the teams Arenado would waive his no-trade clause for. If Bohm is traded, Arenado would be an ideal replacement at the hot corner. Here’s a proposed trade scenario:
Philadelphia Phillies receive:
- 3B Nolan Arenado
- $25 million
St. Louis Cardinals receive:
- OF Gabriel Rincones Jr. (No. 11 prospect)
In this deal, the Cardinals would send Arenado and $25 million to the Phillies, covering half of Arenado’s remaining contract. In return, the Phillies would part with Gabriel Rincones Jr., a 23-year-old, 6’3″ left-handed hitter with the potential to become a middle-of-the-order bat by 2025.
This trade would provide the Phillies with a veteran leader in Arenado while minimizing the financial impact. Losing Rincones wouldn’t significantly weaken their farm system, especially if the team secures an outfielder in a separate Bohm trade. However, this hinges on whether the Phillies ultimately decide to trade Bohm. If he stays, there’s little reason to expect them to pursue Arenado.
