The Houston Astros are reportedly exploring options to add a corner infielder to complement trade acquisition. Since Paredes is versatile enough to play either first or third base, targeting a player at either position seems logical.
Houston previously attempted to trade for St. Louis Cardinals’ Gold Glove third baseman Nolan Arenado, but the deal was reportedly blocked by Arenado’s no-trade clause.
FanSided’s Cody Williams has proposed an intriguing alternative: a blockbuster trade for Philadelphia Phillies All-Star infielder Alec Bohm. Reports suggest the Phillies are open to moving Bohm, making this idea worth exploring.
“Bohm was a highly productive hitter for Philadelphia, even with occasional slumps. He posted a .280/.332/.448 slash line with 15 home runs and 44 doubles last season,” Williams noted. “His power numbers could see a boost in Houston with the Crawford Boxes in left field. It all comes down to finding the right trade price, but this is something the Astros front office should strongly consider, especially as they evaluate their plans for Alex Bregman.”
A potential trade for Bohm would likely require the Astros to part with big-league talent. One option could involve sending expiring starting pitcher Framber Valdez to the Phillies in exchange for Bohm and additional assets. Such a deal aligns with both teams’ objectives and could set the stage for trade discussions in the near future.
