DONE DEAL JUST IN: Yankees Land Perfect $50 Million Juan Soto Replacement In Blockbuster Trade Idea just now

The New York Yankees may have missed out on re-signing Juan Soto this offseason, but that setback could turn into a blessing in disguise. Since then, the Yankees have bolstered their pitching staff by adding Devin Williams and Max Fried. With those moves completed, the team will likely focus on addressing their lineup, specifically replacing Soto in right field.

While Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger remains the top option, negotiations have reportedly hit a stalemate. As an alternative, the Yankees could explore a blockbuster trade for Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr., who is currently on the trade block.

Proposed Trade:
Yankees receive: OF Luis Robert Jr.
White Sox receive: INF George Lombard Jr. (No. 3 prospect), LHP Brock Selvidge (No. 7 prospect), OF Francisco Vilorio (No. 15 prospect)

This deal would give the Yankees a dynamic Soto replacement. Robert would take over in center field, allowing Aaron Judge to return to his natural spot in right. Despite a down year in 2024, Robert’s 2023 numbers—38 home runs, 36 doubles, and an .857 OPS—highlight his immense upside. Additionally, he comes with team control through 2027, making him a high-impact, long-term asset for the Yankees.

While New York has been reluctant to part with top prospect George Lombard Jr., the 19-year-old infielder’s potential must be sacrificed in a win-now move. Left-hander Brock Selvidge doesn’t align with Chicago’s preference for young bats but is too talented to overlook. Outfielder Francisco Vilorio, an 18-year-old with elite raw tools, adds further upside to the deal.

Although Chicago will continue fielding offers for Robert, this package could be enough to land him in the Bronx—particularly if the Yankees’ pursuit of Bellinger falls apart.
