Malik Howard paid a visit to the University of Alabama on Saturday to take in the Crimson Tide’s annual A-Day event.
Howard, a four-star tight end in the 2027 class from Oak Ridge High School in Tennessee, holds scholarship offers from Alabama, Miami, Tennessee, Florida State, and several other programs.
Alabama extended an offer to the talented sophomore back in February and successfully got him on campus over the weekend.
“It was a great experience for me and my family,” Howard shared with Touchdown Alabama. “They showed us a lot of love. I really like how they run things—everything is very professional, and they treat their players like pros.”
Alabama’s evolving usage of the tight end position is catching the attention of recruits, with the Tide actively pursuing several top prospects in the 2026 class.
Howard has noticed the shift.
“They’re starting to get creative with how they use tight ends and seem to want to keep multiple on the field,” he said. “With the right players, they could get some serious production out of the position.”
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, Howard brings a physical presence to the tight end role. He thrives in contested catch situations and is comfortable lining up both out wide and at the line of scrimmage. He’s also an effective blocker who transitions smoothly into a receiving threat.
“I feel like I’m a complete tight end,” Howard said. “I can be a weapon in the passing game against linebackers, safeties, and corners, but I can also handle myself in the trenches. I don’t need to come off the field depending on the play—I can do it all.”
