According to Centre Devils, Manchester United are looking to fend off competition in their pursuit. The young Derby County talent has caught the eye with his recent performances in the youth setup, and United have made an official approach to bring him to Old Trafford.
While much attention is focused on strengthening their senior squad this summer, Manchester United are also placing strong emphasis on recruiting emerging talent for their youth ranks. The club has actively targeted several promising youngsters during the current transfer window and has already secured a number of them.
Since the arrival of Malian midfielder Sekou Kone last summer, United have intensified efforts to boost their academy teams. They have since added former Arsenal duo Chido Obi Martin and Ayden Heaven, along with Paraguayan teenager Diego Leone.
Additionally, the Red Devils are currently leading the race to sign Southampton youngster Harley Emsden-James, another player earmarked for their youth teams. Now, attention has turned to Charlie Hardy, Derby County’s 15-year-old goalkeeper who has already made multiple appearances for the Under-18s, despite being younger than most of his teammates.
Hardy recently captained the U18s in a match against Leeds United, where he kept a clean sheet—a notable accomplishment for someone his age. With Manchester United now showing strong interest, Hardy could soon be on his way to a top Premier League academy.
United have formally approached Derby County in an effort to secure Hardy’s signature and stay ahead of rival clubs. Scouts have been impressed with the teenager’s potential, and United see him as a valuable long-term addition to their youth setup. They are determined to win the race for his signature during this transfer window.
