Former Notre Dame offensive lineman Pat Coogan has officially found a new home through the transfer portal.
On Friday, Coogan announced his decision to leave the national runner-up and transfer to Indiana in the Big Ten. Notre Dame and the Hoosiers faced off in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff, a game dominated by the Fighting Irish in South Bend.
Now, after four seasons with Notre Dame, Coogan will continue his career in Bloomington under head coach Curt Cignetti.
After redshirting in 2021, Coogan became a key contributor for Marcus Freeman’s program, serving as a two-year starter across the 2023-24 seasons. His decision to transfer is particularly notable, given his role in helping Notre Dame reach the national championship game.
Coogan isn’t the only key offensive lineman from Notre Dame exploring a transfer. Rocco Spindler is also in the portal, with Indiana, Michigan, and Nebraska emerging as potential landing spots for the 2025 season.
With Coogan already committing to Indiana, it remains to be seen if he can help recruit Spindler to join him in Bloomington. Regardless, Coogan is set to bolster the Hoosiers’ offensive line in 2025.
