DONE DEAL: Red Sox Sign Silver Slugger Outfielder to Provide Offensive Spark

The Boston Red Sox have revamped their pitching staff for the 2025 season, but concerns remain about their offense.

With their current lineup, the team is looking to add right-handed hitters to bring more balance. Upgrading the corner outfield positions is a priority, making a certain Silver Slugger outfielder a strong candidate.

Jurickson Profar spent the last season and a half with the San Diego Padres, delivering an impressive .280 batting average in 2024 after hitting .295 in 14 games at the end of 2023. His standout 2024 season earned him an MLB All-Star selection, along with career highs in home runs (24) and RBIs (85).

Profar’s market value is estimated at $12.9 million, with a projected two-year, $25.8 million contract. Teams might get aggressive and offer a third year, something the Red Sox should seriously consider.

According to Baseball Savant, Profar ranks in the 80th percentile or higher in seven offensive metrics, including exit velocity, walk rate, and strikeout rate. He’s a true on-base machine.

While Profar’s defense is around league average, his bat would provide a significant offensive boost. If he maintains his form from last season, the Green Monster could see a surge in home runs. This move could be a perfect fit for Boston.
