Star forward is returning for his 19th NHL season, signing a one-year, \$3 million deal with the Detroit Red Wings on Monday.
“Jacked up to be back! Let’s go!” Kane posted on social media following the announcement.
This marks Kane’s third season in Detroit, following a storied career primarily spent with the Chicago Blackhawks.
In 2024-25, under a one-year, \$4 million contract, Kane appeared in 72 games for the Red Wings, recording 59 points (21 goals, 38 assists) while logging nearly 18 minutes of ice time per game.
Set to turn 37 early next season, Kane has amassed 492 goals and 851 assists for a total of 1,343 points in 1,302 career games with the Blackhawks (2007–2023), New York Rangers (2023), and Red Wings. He captured three Stanley Cups with Chicago and was the first American to win both the Hart Trophy (MVP) and the Art Ross Trophy (top scorer).
The Red Wings, aiming to snap a nine-season playoff drought, recently acquired veteran goalie John Gibson from the Anaheim Ducks during Saturday’s NHL Draft.
