In their first year together, quarterback Jayden Daniels and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury led a Washington Commanders offense that ranked among the best in the league, averaging 28.5 points per game. However, with Terry McLaurin as the clear focal point, the unit struggled when defenses keyed in on him. McLaurin finished the season with 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns, while the next most productive receiver, Olamide Zaccheaus, recorded just 506 yards and three touchdowns—a significant drop-off.
CBS Sports believes Washington should prioritize adding another weapon for Daniels this offseason and has identified free agent Tee Higgins as a prime target. “The Commanders have a lot of work to do on defense, but they also can’t go into next season with their current wide receiver group,” CBS Sports notes. “Jayden Daniels needs another reliable option beyond Terry McLaurin, and Tee Higgins is arguably the best free agent available. The 26-year-old hauled in a career-high 10 touchdowns last season despite playing only 12 games.”
According to Spotrac.com, Higgins’ market value is projected at $25.4 million per year, which could translate to a five-year deal worth over $125 million.
Washington might be willing to invest that kind of money, especially considering the impact Tee Higgins could have on their offense. Pairing Higgins—who posted 911 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in just nine games last season—with Terry McLaurin would give Jayden Daniels two legitimate star targets. As Daniels enters his second year, such a dynamic duo could elevate the Commanders’ passing attack and make it one of the most dangerous in the league.
