More talent is joining Colorado’s defensive line.
On Tuesday, former Texas State defensive lineman Tavian Coleman announced his decision to transfer to Colorado, where he will play his final season of college football under head coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes.
The 6-foot-1, 300-pound Coleman was a key contributor for Texas State over two seasons, starting all 26 games for the Bobcats. He played a pivotal role in their 8-5 record this year, which included a victory over North Texas in the First Responder Bowl on Friday.
In the 2024 season, Coleman recorded 26 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and forced two fumbles. The previous year, in 2023, he tallied 27 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks.
Before his time at Texas State, Coleman spent one season at Utah State in 2022, where he started four of 13 games and registered 26 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.
He began his collegiate career at Trinity Valley Community College from 2020 to 2021, amassing 92 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks over two seasons.
Coleman is among many players benefiting from the NCAA’s decision to grant an additional year of eligibility to those who would have otherwise exhausted their college playing years but spent at least one season in junior college.
