Bradford City, known as the Bantams, have made a flying start to the season, accumulating 23 points from their first 10 matches, including seven victories.
They travel to Rotherham tomorrow still leading the table, following Cardiff’s unexpected 1-0 home defeat last night in their postponed fixture against Gary Bowyer’s Burton Albion, who were previously rooted to the bottom.
It’s been an impressive opening to the campaign for City since their promotion, but manager Alexander emphasized that it’s still very much in the early stages.
“It’s a solid base,” he remarked. “We’ve only completed 10 games, which isn’t even a quarter of the season. That said, racking up so many points boosts our belief that the squad has come together remarkably fast. We’re not packed with players who’ve experienced multiple seasons in League One—we have a handful. Instead, we’ve got individuals stepping up, either adapting to this level for the first time or maturing through their youth. Take young talents like Josh Neufville or Bobby Pointon, for example. The key is their self-confidence and trust in one another. That’s the most important factor. It’s why I keep hammering home the need to focus on our own setup and style of play—without that foundation, nothing else matters. We require wins to back up the coaching and preparation, especially with about half the team being newcomers. Everyone has to demonstrate it. That being said, we must never allow success to inflate our egos. We’re good at keeping perspective, regardless of the outcome.”
