Lennon Miller, a midfielder linked with Sunderland, could be on the move in the near future, with his father Lee confirming that clubs are in active discussions and a formal bid is expected shortly.
The 18-year-old has already racked up 76 senior appearances for Motherwell and recently earned two caps for Scotland, attracting significant interest following a standout season in the Scottish Premiership. Sunderland have been named among the clubs monitoring him, as Kristjaan Speakman, Florent Ghisolfi, and Stuart Harvey look to strengthen the squad after promotion and Jobe Bellingham’s departure.
Providing an update on his son’s future, Lee Miller told reporters: “I think a bid will come in — maybe this week, maybe next. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes, clubs are in talks, so we’ll see how it unfolds.”
The expected transfer fee is reportedly set to exceed the £3.25 million Motherwell received for David Turnbull in 2020, potentially approaching the £10 million mark, which would break the club’s record sale.
Lee also commented on the potential for a move abroad: “That’s definitely a possibility. He’s ambitious and wants to play at the highest level. He had a fantastic season, capped it off with two appearances for Scotland, and he’s keen to keep pushing forward. We’ll see what happens over the coming weeks.”
Despite all the speculation, Lee emphasized that Lennon remains grounded and focused on playing: “He just wants to play football — he would’ve played yesterday if he could. That’s what he loves and what he does best.”
Miller is now seen as one of the most promising young talents in Scottish football. While Sunderland haven’t tabled an official offer yet, they’re keeping a close eye on the situation. With interest also coming from clubs in the UK and overseas, a key decision from Motherwell could be on the horizon.
