The Los Angeles Dodgers still have several notable players in free agency, including another key man, Jack Flaherty, and Walker Buehler. However, after recent acquisitions like Michael Conforto and Blake Snell, it’s uncertain if any of these free agents will return to Los Angeles in 2025.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report has predicted a split between the Dodgers and Hernández this offseason.
“The Dodgers recently signed Michael Conforto to a one-year, $17 million deal, so they might be out on re-signing Teoscar Hernández,” Miller wrote. “As it stands, their outfield options include Conforto, Tommy Edman, Andy Pages, James Outman, and Chris Taylor, along with Mookie Betts when Miguel Rojas starts at shortstop. Additionally, top prospect Dalton Rushing might be in the mix, leaving them likely set on corner outfielders.”
So, what’s next for Hernández?
Miller projects that the Dodgers outfielder will sign a three-year, $66 million deal with the Cincinnati Reds, now managed by Terry Francona.
The Reds, a team brimming with young talent, missed the postseason due to injuries, inconsistent performance, and management issues. With Francona at the helm, the atmosphere in Cincinnati is optimistic. The team has reportedly explored several free agents and trade options, including a recent acquisition of pitcher Brady Singer. Adding Hernández as a daily outfield presence could significantly bolster their roster.
