Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is making it clear to the Crimson Tide’s quarterbacks: the job’s not finished yet.

Grubb, along with head coach Kalen DeBoer, is continuing to treat the quarterback competition as wide open heading into the summer. Ty Simpson, Austin Mack, and Keelon Russell are all still in the mix for the starting spot.

Right now, Simpson leads the pack. Grubb told reporters earlier this week that if the team had to play a game today, Simpson would be the starter. Still, Grubb emphasized that none of the quarterbacks should get comfortable. “There’s still plenty of work ahead,” he said. “The message is pretty simple—we have to be better.”

Grubb acknowledged the group’s progress through spring but pointed out there’s room to grow. “The quarterback room isn’t where it needs to be yet,” he said. “But I’ve seen growth. The competitiveness and the way these guys respect each other has been impressive. I’m lucky to work with them every day—and I’m excited about what we have. All three are really talented quarterbacks.”
