USMNT striker Josh Sargent looked close to leaving Norwich City this summer in pursuit of top-flight football in Europe.
A move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg was on the table, while Burnley and Leeds United also showed interest. But instead, Sargent has committed his future to the Canaries for the 2025/26 campaign.
The American forward has been electric so far, netting six goals in just five matches, forcing his way into the conversation for a starting striker role under Mauricio Pochettino — even if no one has nailed down that spot yet.
Some critics argue he should have made the jump to a bigger stage, but Sargent insists staying at Carrow Road was the right call.
“There were a lot of factors, not just for me but for my family as well,” he explained. “I feel I’m in a good place at Norwich. I know I can score goals here, and that’s huge with the World Cup on the horizon. I’ve started the season well, so hopefully I can keep that up all year.”
Despite his strong club record, Sargent has yet to hit the same heights for the U.S. national team, where he hasn’t scored since November 2019. He’ll be battling for minutes with Damion Downs and Folarin Balogun in September’s clashes with Japan and South Korea.
