
Akron transfer defensive back Darrian Lewis committed to the West Virginia University football program early Wednesday afternoon.
Last season, Lewis played in 12 games, starting 11, and recorded 74 tackles, including three for loss, along with one interception and six pass breakups.
He entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on April 22 and drew interest from several programs, receiving offers from Western Kentucky, New Mexico, Western Michigan, Miami (OH), Florida Atlantic, UTEP, Purdue, and Illinois.
In addition to West Virginia, the Akron native visited both Purdue and Illinois during his transfer process.
Over his career at Akron, Lewis appeared in 36 games with 20 starts, totaling 205 tackles, two interceptions, 15 pass breakups, and 1.5 sacks.
