The fall transfer portal officially closed on December 28, but players already in the portal can still sign with new programs. Like most college football teams, BYU experienced player departures and brought in a number of talented additions, including players from other power conferences.
Here’s a mid-January overview of BYU’s transfer portal situation following the conclusion of the 2024 football season.
### Departures
**Noah Lugo, QB**
Lugo, a fall 2023 BYU commit, has transferred to UTSA in his home state of Texas, likely seeking earlier playing time with Jake Retzlaff set to return in 2025.
**Miles Davis, RB**
After five seasons in a reserve role at BYU, Davis is transferring to Utah State for his final year of eligibility.
**Kody Epps, WR**
Epps, a reserve wideout with a standout 2022 season (469 yards, six touchdowns), initially entered the portal last year but returned to BYU. He now officially departs for Western Kentucky.
**Jackson Bowers, TE**
Bowers struggled for consistent production in BYU’s offense and has transferred to Oregon State.
**Jake Eichorn, OL**
After limited action in 2024, Eichorn joins Miles Davis at Utah State.
**David Latu, DL**
Latu, a 2023 recruit and the No. 4-rated prospect in Utah, saw little playing time and has transferred to Boise State.
**Dallin Johnson, DL**
Johnson, a three-star recruit who didn’t play this season, has moved to Utah Tech.
**Aisea Moa, LB**
The departure of Moa, a four-star defensive talent, is a significant loss. After playing 142 snaps with 14 tackles in 2024, he has transferred to Michigan State.
**Sione Moa, LB**
After transferring from Utah State in 2022, Moa made 14 tackles over two seasons at BYU. He remains in the portal but is unlikely to return.
**Crew Wakely, S**
Wakely, who made 36 tackles and two interceptions in 2024, has transferred to Purdue.
**Micah Harper, S**
Despite his talent, Harper struggled with injuries and left BYU seeking more playing time. He has transferred to Montana in the FCS.
**Dallin Havea, ATH**
Havea, a three-star athlete, has yet to play at BYU and remains in the portal without a destination.

### Additions
**Carsen Ryan, TE**
Ryan, formerly at Utah, caught 10 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown in 2024. He brings blocking experience and could secure significant playing time at BYU in 2025.
**Andrew Gentry, OL**
A former four-star recruit and Michigan reserve lineman, Gentry played across the offensive line and excelled in pass protection. He’s a likely candidate for a starting tackle role.
**Kyle Sfarcioc, OL**
Sfarcioc, an experienced right guard from Southern Utah, performed well against Utah in 2024. He could compete for a starting spot on BYU’s interior offensive line.
**Keanu Tanuvasa, DL**
Tanuvasa, a key contributor at Utah, adds immediate impact to BYU’s defensive line with solid pass-rushing and run defense skills.
**Tausili Akana, EDGE**
A former Texas recruit, Akana seeks to prove himself as a starter at outside linebacker or edge rusher in Provo.
**Anisi Purcell, EDGE**
Purcell, who tallied 30 QB pressures at Southern Utah, provides much-needed depth for BYU’s defensive line.
**Max Alford, LB**
Alford, a Utah State transfer, aims for a fresh start at BYU after injuries limited his playing time since 2022.

While most transfers have been finalized, a few players in the portal may still join BYU. However, additional additions are expected to be minimal.
