The Los Angeles Chargers might be just a move or two away from building a Super Bowl-caliber roster—if they can pull everything together before the 2025 season.
Quarterback Justin Herbert will lead a revamped group of pass-catchers after Joshua Palmer left for the Buffalo Bills. The Chargers brought back Mike Williams and added rookie Tre Harris in the draft to complement Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston as deep threats.
While McConkey is emerging as a top receiving option, questions remain about Johnston’s consistency and Harris’s readiness to contribute as a starter. If the Chargers want to go all-in now, there’s one bold move that could elevate their offense.
Could Tyreek Hill be the missing piece?
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk suggested that the Chargers should inquire about trading for Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill. Known for his game-breaking speed and production, Hill has topped 1,000 receiving yards in six seasons and led the league in both yards (1,799) and touchdowns (13) in 2023, despite not making the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.
Herbert’s receiving corps has been spotty in the past, but Hill would provide a true No. 1 target and allow Herbert to fully utilize his arm strength. The Chargers haven’t had a receiver with Hill’s speed, and his presence could instantly transform the offense.
Hill, now 31, is under contract through 2026, which adds complexity to any trade scenario. While Miami likely wouldn’t get a first-rounder at this stage, a second- or third-round pick might be enough to make it worth the Chargers’ while.
If Los Angeles wants to spark its offense and make a legitimate title push, Hill could be the dynamic weapon they need.
