The Los Angeles Angels have been unexpectedly active this offseason, making a number of signings and trades in an effort to bounce back from their last-place finish.
Los Angeles Angels reportedly interested in Nolan Arenado, Alec Bohm
The Los Angeles Angels are reportedly interested in acquiring either St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado or Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register.
Arenado, a native of the Anaheim area, has three years and $74 million left on his contract. However, the 34-year-old has experienced some decline both offensively and defensively. While he is open to a trade to the Angels, his agent suggests that Arenado, a future Hall of Famer, wants to join a contender. With the Angels having missed the playoffs since 2014, they are not currently viewed as a playoff-bound team.
Bohm, who earned his first All-Star selection in 2024, could be a more feasible target for the Angels. He is under team control through 2026 and is arbitration-eligible, expected to make about $8 million in 2025. However, the Phillies are reportedly asking for a significant return for their young third baseman. Bohm’s market may see increased activity once free-agent third baseman Alex Bregman signs with a new team.
As of now, the Angels have a projected 2025 payroll of $191 million, according to Spotrac.
