Miranda Lambert isn’t fazed by criticism.
The country star put her own twist on Jimmy Kimmel’s well-known “Mean Tweets” segment, sharing a “Mean Tweets Morgan Wallen Tour Edition” video on Instagram on Feb. 4. In the clip, the “Mama’s Broken Heart” singer reads comments from fans unhappy with her decision to join Wallen’s upcoming “I’m the Problem Tour.”
“I appreciate that y’all aren’t afraid to hold back ,” she captioned the video.
The backlash from fans was strong, with comments like:
- “I’ll pass. I was the biggest Miranda fan.”
- “Hmm, Team Miranda forever, but this comes as a shock. This ain’t it, Sis.”
- “I’m so disappointed in both of you. May God forgive you both.”
- “You are not a side dish. You’re a main course.”
- “Girl, you can do better than this.”
- “Miranda, you’re just clinging to something popular so you can try to stay relevant.”
- “I’m further confused about why you’d be opening for anyone. You should be the headliner. What’s going on?!?”
That last comment even got a reaction from someone off-camera who said, “That’s actually true!” To which Lambert responded, “It’s not wrong, but it’s not right.”
Despite the negativity, Lambert didn’t seem bothered.
“Thanks, guys, for the support. Appreciate it, guys,” she joked at the end of the video.
Wallen announced the tour last month, running from June through September. Lambert will perform at several shows, starting June 28 in Madison, Wisconsin, and wrapping up Sept. 12 in Edmonton, Canada. Other artists joining Wallen include Brooks & Dunn, Thomas Rhett, Koe Wetzel, Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley, and Anne Wilson.
