The incident occurred when Betts leaned over the wall to snag a catch, only for two fans to try to grab the ball from his glove, even attempting to pry it open and stop him from pulling the ball back. Betts maintained his composure, choosing to return to his position in right field rather than react impulsively.
However, the frustration lingered, and when reflecting on the situation, Betts expressed his anger, telling the fans, “F*** you guys.” The two fans, identified as Austin Capobianco and John Peter, were ejected from the game. They remained unapologetic, justifying their actions by stating they were merely supporting their team.
Capobianco explained their mindset, saying, “We’re not going to go out of our way to attack. If it’s in our area, we’re going to ‘D’ up.” However, he later admitted his mistake, saying, “I know when I’m in the wrong… I patrol that wall and they know that.”
The Dodgers, with Betts leading the way, ultimately had the last word. The fans were banned from attending Game 5, and the Dodgers clinched the World Series title, securing a victorious end to their season.
