JUST IN: Ohio State football lose a defensive lineman to the transfer portal

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State defensive lineman has entered the transfer portal.

Kanu recently completed his junior season with the Buckeyes, recording four tackles in 123 defensive snaps.

After redshirting as a true freshman in 2022, during which he appeared in three games, Kanu played in 11 games in 2023, tallying 10 tackles, including one sack.

A native of California, Kanu attended Santa Margarita High School in Rancho Santa Margarita. He was a four-star recruit in Ohio State’s 2022 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

That class included four defensive linemen. Of those, Kanu and Omari Abor—who transferred to SMU ahead of the 2024 season—are now in the transfer portal. The other two, Kenyatta Jackson and Caden Curry, are expected to compete for starting roles next season following the departures of Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau to the NFL.
