JUST IN: Ole Miss Football Trending to Land With Nebraska Cornhuskers

Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels are currently navigating a crucial phase on the recruiting trail, as a flurry of official visits this month has brought numerous high-priority prospects to Oxford.

With over ten key targets visiting the program, Ole Miss has begun to generate significant momentum, climbing into the Top 20 nationally for the 2026 recruiting cycle.

While the Rebels have secured several commitments this summer, they’ve also seen some top targets explore other schools or commit elsewhere.

Now, two notable prospects on Kiffin’s radar are trending toward other programs, as recent predictions suggest they may commit elsewhere.

Recruits Trending Away from Ole Miss:

Luke Sorenson – Tight End
The three-star tight end from Servite High School in Anaheim, California, took an official visit to Oxford in May, positioning Ole Miss as a serious contender. However, other schools remain firmly in the mix, including Nebraska and Penn State.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, Sorenson has drawn increasing SEC attention, recently picking up an offer from Tennessee. Yet, Nebraska appears to be pulling ahead. After an official visit to Lincoln, the Cornhuskers have received multiple crystal ball predictions in their favor, including a key pick from 247Sports’ Nick Schaefer.

With Sorenson set to announce his commitment on June 20, Ole Miss now finds itself trailing both Nebraska and Penn State in the race.

Hayden Ainsworth – Offensive Lineman
Biloxi (Miss.) native Hayden Ainsworth, a four-star offensive lineman, recently reclassified to the 2026 class, accelerating his recruitment this offseason.

Measuring 6-foot-5 and weighing 285 pounds, Ainsworth holds offers from top programs including Ole Miss, Alabama, and Nebraska. After visiting Nebraska last weekend, the Cornhuskers are currently viewed as the frontrunner, having gained several recent predictions in their favor.

That said, Ainsworth is scheduled to take an official visit to Ole Miss from June 20–22, giving the Rebels a key opportunity to regain ground in his recruitment.
