Mookie Betts, the latest Boston Red Sox legend, left the team under controversial circumstances. Now, he’s adding to the sting by saying his departure was one of the best decisions of his career (via All the Smoke Productions).
“I enjoy watching Red Sox games because of [Alex] Cora… people thought I didn’t want to be in Boston. It’s still business… I absolutely love where I’m at now. I love Dave Robertson, I love being a Dodger. Being a Dodger has probably been the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
During his six seasons with the Sox, Mookie had already achieved legendary status, posting a .301/.374/.519/.893 line with 965 doubles, 139 home runs, and 126 stolen bases. He helped lead the team to a World Series title and was nearly unanimously named MVP in 2018. Additionally, he earned All-Star, Gold Glove, and Silver Slugger honors for four consecutive years.
While fans are happy Mookie is thriving, many wish he had stayed in a Red Sox uniform, as his continued presence could have significantly impacted the team’s performance in the last five seasons.
