GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Reliever Scott Barlow has signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds, which includes a club option for the 2026 season.
The Reds announced the signing on Thursday. To make room on the roster, right-hander Julian Aguiar—who is recovering from Tommy John surgery performed last October—was placed on the 60-day injured list.
Barlow, a veteran of seven MLB seasons, has exclusively pitched in relief, appearing in 365 games. He holds a career record of 23-21 with 58 saves, a 3.49 ERA, and 461 strikeouts over 387 innings.
The 32-year-old right-hander went 3-3 with a 4.25 ERA in 63 games for Cleveland last season, recording 68 strikeouts in 55 innings before being released in mid-September. He originally debuted with Kansas City in 2018, was traded to San Diego in 2023, and later dealt to Cleveland in the offseason.
