Every major college football program prioritizes recruiting during the early winter months. With the spotlight on the talented 2026 class, coach Mike Elko and his staff have secured ten commitments, including four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory.
Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class currently ranks fourth nationally (per On3) with ten commitments. While the class covers a variety of positions, offensive coordinator Collin Klein’s scheme emphasizes running back depth, which was a challenge for the Aggies last season.
On Tuesday, 2026 four-star running back Derrek Cooper revealed his top 10 schools: Texas A&M, Georgia, Miami (FL), Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Penn State, and Ole Miss.
Cooper is a dynamic two-way player with near-elite athleticism. Though his background as a safety and linebacker is noteworthy, his speed, footwork, and vision as a running back make him a priority recruit in that role for all the programs on his list.
During his junior season in 2024 at Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Cooper rushed for 905 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he tallied 46 tackles, four sacks, ten tackles for loss, one interception, and four pass breakups.
