Miami Dolphins wide receiver suffered a frightening head injury during Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, prompting widespread concern across the NFL. After being carted off the field following a devastating third-quarter hit, DuBose was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. The Dolphins later reported on social media that he was in “stable condition.”
The injury occurred on a deep pass over the middle from Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, leaving DuBose vulnerable to a violent helmet-to-helmet collision with Texans safety Calen Bullock. Tagovailoa, who has endured his own history of serious head injuries, expressed regret after the game, admitting he felt responsible for the situation. “I’m my toughest critic when it comes to ball placement,” he said. “I feel bad that I even put him in that situation to get hit. It was tough to move on after that happened.” Reflecting on his personal experiences, Tagovailoa added, “We all know I’ve gone through something very similar. That’s no fun.” The Dolphins quarterback has sustained three documented concussions during his five-year NFL career, including one earlier this season that sidelined him for four games.
DuBose, a seventh-round draft pick in 2023, remained on the field for over 10 minutes following the collision. Medical staff cut off his jersey and removed his face mask before transporting him to the hospital. Players from both teams gathered around in support, while fans were asked not to share footage of the incident due to its graphic nature. After the game, Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill offered an informal update on DuBose’s condition to a reporter.
