In late June, quarterback from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, pledged to Virginia Tech and coach Brent Pry for the Class of 2026. Since making his commitment, he visited campus several times this fall and even helped recruit other players for his class. However, Falzone will not be joining the Hokies in Blacksburg.
Nearly five months after his initial commitment, Falzone de-committed on Wednesday and will reopen his recruitment, according to 247Sports. As a junior this season, the 6-foot-5, 200-pound quarterback passed for 2,136 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 743 yards and eight additional touchdowns. He was recently named a four-star prospect.

This is a significant setback for Coach Pry and offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen. Falzone, who visited Ohio State this past weekend during their win over Indiana, has plans to visit Iowa on Friday and Syracuse on Saturday to see them play Miami in an exciting ACC matchup.
Falzone told 247Sports, “After careful consideration, I’ve made the tough decision to decommit from Virginia Tech. From the start, my family and I were welcomed with love and respect by the entire staff at Virginia Tech. I’m extremely grateful to Coach Pry, Coach Bowen, and everyone in the Hokie family who supported my growth. I’ll always hold Blacksburg and the Hokies in high regard.”
Falzone has offers from Wisconsin, Penn State, Kent State, and others. Losing one of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2026 is a major blow for Coach Pry and the Hokies. While Virginia Tech has commitments from Class of 2025 quarterbacks Kelden Ryan and AJ Brand, they’ll need to reassess their recruiting plans for that class.
